Welcome To Coinhunting.Net!
This is a scene from the 1909 Chautauqua in a small Central Illinois town taken from a rare antique postcard. If you look closely, you can see the rail and a part of the original horse race track from the old fairgrounds that was at this same site in the years prior to the Chautauqua coming to town.
You don't have to use much imagination to understand why there would be old coins, jewelry and artifacts dropped in the grass, dirt and mud over those years that are waiting for someone with a metal detector to find them!
Our goal at Coinhunting.Net is to provide to the metal detecting community a format to interact and network with others who share the same enthusiasm for old coins and relics as well as the love of history.
The locating and recovery of these coins and relics is a great hobby for anyone who is willing to network with experienced hunters and take the time to learn how to use a metal detector, research potential hunting sites, obtain the proper permissions and to go out and do the searching. Time is of the essence because development is slowly but surely taking these places away forever.
