Crazy weather this week in Indiana.

The ground was basically frozen last Sunday then on Monday and Tuesday we got at least 6 inches of snow. Then on Thursday it started warming up. Today it was 64 and all of the snow is gone!

Also during the big melt down now ALL of the frost is gone out of the soil. So digging plugs today was like cutting butter. It was only wet in the low areas too which made it a great day to hunt!

I hunted for a couple of hours for the first time this year at the local park and got pretty lucky. The first coin was a clad quarter (I still can't pass those up) and the next coin was a nice DEEP 1916 P wheatie. Then the next signal said silver quarter about 6 inches deep!

I dug down and saw a penny. It was a wheatie. Then filling the hole back in I noticed another penny. It was a memorial. I thought that was it and filled the hole in. I went back over it just in case and it was still screaming quarter! So I dug down and sure enough, out pops a silver quarter! Then I filled the hole back in a got ANOTHER signal that turned out to be another memorial. Filled it in again and got two more signals right next to the hole that turned out to be one memorial and one wheat. A 6 coin spill!

After that I found 2 more wheaties (one was cut by a lawn mower), one more memorial, a deep clad dime and 4 more clad quarters. One junk signal I thought was going to be a 9 inch deep silver quarter got my heart racing. Not sure what it is. Chrome plated cap of some kind. At first I thought it was a whistle.

Now that daylight savings time is here I may get out for a little detecting in the late afternoons.....
