...........The following is a true story.........the names have been changed to protect the victims! The detector shop that I use is mainly visited by beach hunters!! So I hear a lot of beach-related stories!! Jack and Jim both frequently hunted the surf! Not together! but they knew of each other! One day Jim was out in the water and the surf was breaking above his head, he really shouldn't have been out there! But TH'ers are a sturdy lot and he was going to find some gold no matter what!!..Well a series of waves hit him so hard that it knocked him off his feet and dragged him thru the surf! Somehow he managed to hold onto his underwater detector but lost his Stainless Steel Scoop! Now these SS Scoops are custom built with about a 4 foot handle and new cost $120.00 or so! He searched everywhere but could not find his scoop! The power of the surf evidently dragged it away! Well...........of course, the word got out that this scoop was out in the surf somewhere. Not sure when........ but on a much calmer day Jack was out hunting the surf and got a large reading and sure enough it was Jim's lost scoop. Most TH'ers would have gladly given the scoop back to Jim, but not Jack! Jack demanded a FINDER's FEE from Jim! Well after it was all thru, Jim was out at least $80.00 bucks but at least he had his scoop back!......Kind of tells one what kind of person that Jack was! Not Very good or nice! Sad as this story is, it gets sadder! One should be cautioned of the old saying that what goes around comes back around!! Because of the type of person that Jack was......he could find no hunting partners and alwaays hunted by himself! On yet another day,...............not really sure what happened...............Jack was out in the surf and............ maybe stepped into a deep hole...........maybe was dragged out to Sea............no one really knows ............BUT JACK DROWNED and he was an experienced swimmer! THIS IS THE ONLY TH'er THAT I KNOW OF PERSONALLY THAT DIED BECAUSE OF HIS TH'ing!! Some people say that what you do has no effect on where you wind up!!!...............MAKES ONE WONDER............AS FOR ME I WILL BE NICE AND COURTEOUS TO ALL! .............HH.........Joe
