..........THIS WAS A STORY PRINTED IN ONE OF THE LOCAL TH'ING CLUB'S NEWSLETTER BACK IN THE 1980'S!(the names have been changed to protect the innocent and the stupid)............this treasure hunter (let's call him James) was hunting in a local city park, when he noticed that a truck had stopped and the driver(Steve) was watching him! After about an hour Steve walked over to James and told him that he had a problem! His dad had recently passed away and a large amount of his coin collection was missing! Could James come over to his house and look for this treasure! So shortly James went to Steve's house and started coinshooting, James shortly found about 30 individual silver coins but as he found them Steve would put them into his pocket! Eventually James got a large reading in the backyard flower garden! Probing they determined that it was roughly a large box or container. Since this was Steves mom's garden and he did not want to upset her, Steve explained to her that they would only excavate an area of roughly 2 ft by 2 ft! Digging they do uncover a large chest, opening it it is full of silver coins mainly silver dollars and a Civil War era revolver in perfect condition, it was wrapped in an oily type cloth! So shortly Steve disappears with this box into the house and is not seen for at least 30 minutes or so! Now James is really getting worried.........there was no agreement before the large find was made either verbally or written!..also all of the previous silver coins that were discovered all went into Steve's pocket!! So while waiting for Steve to come out of the house, James basicly speeds hunts the yard and pockets all of the finds maybe 20 coins or so! Finally Steve exits the house and says that James need to leave and hands him a small handful of about 30 coins mainly Rossevelt's!!........................................James leaves but he is very upset with himself.........he should never had hunted private property without some type of agreement either written or verbal!! James believes that he was entitled to at least 1/2 of this treasure but since he made no agreement he was totally at the mercy of the landowners!!........................................This lesson was a hard one for James but if you can't get some type of agreement from the landwowner before the hunt starts, it would be better to just walk away!.............James still dreams about the Colt Revolver that got away....................THINK ABOUT THIS.................HH.....Joe
