Way too dry to hunt grassy areas that are maintained. The good news is that the corn and beans are starting to ripen and we are only a few weeks away from field hunting. It doesn't get too dry for that! B)

Though i haven't recently been out detecting due to home projects, dry hot weather never stopped me from searching 'certain parks, etc'.
No matter how careful replacing the plugs, they'll dry up for sure in that type of weather.

The trick is to stay away from parks, etc. with well manicured/green turf where a dried up plug will stick out like a sore thumb.
Instead in hot dry weather i search parks, school yards, etc. with dingy already dried up turf especially those with a lot of bare dirt patches where a dried up plug will blend invisibly with the rest of the dried up turf and bare patches.
After a good soaking rain or two, those dried up plugs will start greening again.
Works for me.
