Teri's a meanie:P:

Tell her she's right and you'll start with the ring on her left hand.

Tried that with my wife and all it got me was no, well you know, and I still had to find a way to fund my toys. Wound up selling and using a lot of coins.

Here's hoping she changes her mind and you don't have to sell your gold, although I think it would do well at auction.

Good luck.

She has been pretty cool about my "toys" over the years but my want for a new GPX 5000 has pushed her over the edge and this time she wants my detecting to pay its own way. All good and fair.

Nice piece of gold ! Does 11.5 grams include the quartz ? How do you go about weighing the gold content of a piece like that?

Thats including the quartz. I would have to do a spcific gravity test to get the exact gold content and I don't have the right kind of scale for that. Judgeing by its size and how it feels in your hand, I would be surprised if it had more than 3g of quartz. This is a perfect nugget to be wire wraped and worn as a pendent.
