SWEET!!! VERY INTERESTING FINDS!! I would dig every conductive signal at that place and go back many many times. I have never seen a crotal bell that size! Looks to be about 3" in diameter. Looks to be an OLD cow bell that may have been brought over across the Atlantic.

Check the ones on this link:

www.colchestertreasurehunting.co.uk/b/bells.htm

Looking forward to seeing what else you find there!

Thanks for the link to the bells, that's great. I was able to read several of the button back marks and found one was Lewis & Tomes 1820-1832. I also found another piece that I'm not sure what it is but I'll post pics, it measures 1"x1/2".

That's a neat piece! Looks to be very small. Is it about the size of a half dime?

That is a nice bell, wonder why there is a hole? There has to be a reason, any suggestions out there?

Here's a good explanation!

www.classicbells.com/info/Crotal.htm

Most crotals have two to four holes cast into the lower half. These holes are often incorrectly called "sound holes", but the holes are really required to manufacture the bells, not for the bells to produce sound.

Nice finds. I got to find me some good cornfields. I am not sure anyone lived here except Native Americans back then. J/K I got some new maps. I should be able to find some good stuff on there.
